Spring Wedding Fever!

Wedding Season has arrived and so has the Bridal trends for Spring 2013. No matter what season the Bride chooses, it’s by far a special time. It’s no secret that a major highlight to this event is none other  than “The Dress”. Every new Bride to be is excited about the endless possibilities when it comes to picking the right dress that “feels perfect”. It’s not an easy task but remember it’s a special moment. The aim in the end is to feel like a goddess and at ease for that much anticipated day.

In recent days designers like Oscar de la Renta, Reem Acra, Marchesa and many others have presented new Bridal Collections for Spring 2013. The most visible trends were detailed vintage lace, higher necklines, florals, one shoulder, sleeves and voluminous skirts. When it came to color ivories, champagne and white were still very much the staple. However, there were some bold statements that were made perhaps for the more modern bride. Vera Wang showed reds and scarlett hues, De la Renta and Herrera showed pantsuits and hints of light blue, Lhuillier included flirty short hemmed options.

Latin Beauties Cover Spring Fashion!

The April and May spring magazine covers have been commanded by some of the most sought after Latinas in Hollywood. In the month of April you can find Jennifer Lopez gracing the cover of US Vogue and Sofia Vergara on the cover of InStyle magazine. (Sofia was also included in the team of “TV Features” beauties on the cover of May’s Vanity Fair.)

May brings you two well known fellow “Bandidas”. First, you have Penelope Cruz on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar and a double whammy by Salma Hayek who covers both Lucky Magazine and Marie Claire@Work’s cover. It’s undeniable that these women have made an impact not only in movies, TV, music, fashion but also in business. After reading the interviews to each one of these Latin power houses you are left viewing them as more than just drop dead gorgeous women in couture gowns at red carpet events. They are mothers, wives and hardworking, smart individuals with goals, ambitions and what drives them the most…their heart. One Style at a Time shares some excerpts from these interviews and salutes these captivating and inspiring icons of today.

Penelope Cruz in Harper’s Bazaar:

On how she describes herself: “I’m a worrier. I am living for every day and trying to have less fear, less worry. But I have always worried about everything; it’s in my nature. It’s the thing that makes me suffer the most.”

Sofia Vergara in InStyle:

Sofia talks about her self awareness of her looks and how it has open doors for her career. She is also keen on acknowledging that without depth besides good looks you will not get very far. “Not everyone is Miss Universe, but everyone has something… spectacular hair, nice legs, great boobs that they can play up,” she shares.

Jennifer Lopez in US Vogue

On her split with Marc Anthony: “Without going into detail…it’s just really, really sad.  And look, we are still going through it, and it’s emotional sometimes and difficult. ‘She added: ‘We’re still friends – and we’re parents but it’s going to take time. It’s tough.”

Salma Hayek in Marie Claire @Work:

On people who have a hard time accepting her as a businesswoman: “Because I have a background in a different field, it can be hard to negotiate and make a good deal for myself. People always underestimate me. But if you stick around long enough, act out of conviction, and try to be honorable in everything you do, good things will come to you. I have seen karma work in this business.”

Salma Hayek in Lucky Magazine:

On Botox: “Trust me.. I’ve been tempted, but I resist!” she insists. “Plus, if you freeze a muscle in your face, other muscles have to compensate! And once you stop, what does that look like?”

Statement Shoes for Spring (Trend Alert)

Spring and Summer is the time when not only do we notice the trees and flowers blooming but also the Fashion is evolution. As the spring styles begin to heighten in attention, shoes are no exception this time around. Designers took their creativity to another level this season with shoe statements and embellishments for all shoe tastes and sizes. This time around it’s not just about platform shoes or extreme heights, it’s about how outrageous and intricate the design can be. Of course pair them with a more understated outfit  and let your feet make the statement. Is this a trend you are willing to experiment with for the warmer days ahead? It’s a shoe world of straps, florals, artistic heels, floral appliques and so many more.

Wear Blue for Autism Awareness!

Hello Fashion Readers,

So many vivid and bright colors have invaded the stores and online shopping and why not our very own closets. Of course the runways for Spring/Summer 2012 were the prelude to this beautiful color making its presence. Designers like Jason Wu, Alberta Ferretti among many others presented collections that included some variation of the this cool and elegant hue.

Well this trend couldn’t come at better time. As many of you know, April is Autism Awareness month and beginning April 1st the public is urged to “Light It Up Blue”. Whether you light up a light at home, at work or why not bring your most fabulous blue fashion to your day to day, it’s an amazing cause to raise awareness for. With the CDC announcing last week that Autism prevalence in the USA is up to 1 in every 88 children, its very important to understand and learn more about this epidemic that is affecting so many families. For more information or for donations please visit Autism Speaks. I leave you with some Runway  inspiration as well as ideas on how to bring this color to your daily fashion routine, One Style at a Time in the spirit of a great cause.
